Well, that was truly something special. If you're like me, you love the game of baseball. There's no other sport like it. The long legacy was highlighted in the 1989 movie 'Field of Dreams.'
In the film, Kevin Costner's character is inspired by a mysterious voice to build a ballpark in his cornfield, even though it could put him into tremendous financial debt, so that the ghosts of baseball's past (including his character's dad) can have a place to keep playing ball.
Remember, "if you build it, he will come." He did in the movie, and 30+ years later, so did MLB.
And the game ended in Hollywood fashion too!
"A #walkoff into the corn at #MLBatFieldofDreams. Couldn't write a better script," the MLB tweeted.
The Yankees had taken an 8-7 lead and as Anderson circle the bases as fireworks exploded.
You can't write a script that good. And Costner said it best in his opening speech... "It's perfect."
I don't know about you, but I can't wait to visit the 'Field of Dreams' with my son someday.
