It's been weeks since the world lost Naomi Judd "to the disease of mental illness" at the age of 76.
This morning, Ashley Judd appeared in an interview with Diane Sawyer on "Good Morning America." The family wanted to world to hear from them as to the cause of her mother's death.
Ashley said "She used a weapon...a firearm. So that's the piece of information we are very uncomfortable sharing."
She went on to say, on behalf of the family, they wanted to shed light on mental illness because it's "important to make the distinction between the loved one and the disease." Ashley said her mother "couldn't hang on."
CMT will air a televised memorial for Judd on Sunday.
