While spending on Valentine’s Day is expected to be up $4 per person this year, it’s hard to shake the feeling that a lot of people aren’t feeling the love.
Here’s a rundown of some reasons people are down on Valentine’s Day:
- You tell your family you love them all the time anyway, making Valentine’s Day feel forced.
- You feel obligated to participate just to stay out of the doghouse.
- You’re single and feel left out.
- It’s a rip-off holiday with jacked-up prices on food and flowers.
- You’ve been together for a while – and really don’t feel like you have anything to prove.
- Even if you sort of like Valentine’s Day, you’d have to admit that almost nobody ever says Valentine’s Day is their favorite time of the year. (Time)
